Secretary-General
Yvette Shu is a senior at Johns Hopkins University majoring in Political Science and International Studies. She hails from sunny Los Angeles, CA, and she is still acclimating to the seasons in Baltimore. She has previously served as the Chief of Staff for HopMUNC, Hopkins’ collegiate conference, and has traveled across the circuit with the Hopkins Model UN Team. Yvette is super excited to serve as the Secretariat-General for the inaugural JayMUNC conference! Outside of Model UN, Yvette loves to read, debate, and practice photography. She is a big fan of the Christmas Village in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor and has gone every year!
Director-General
Sophia Baleeiro is a senior at Johns Hopkins University majoring in Environmental Science and Political Science. She’s from the very nearby town of Sykesville, but prefers living in Baltimore. Sophia has been competing in Model UN since seventh grade, and has staffed a conference every year since her junior year of high school. She competes on the Hopkins travel team on the collegiate circuit, and has chaired twice for HopMUNC. She is beyond ecstatic to serve as Director General for the first edition of JayMUNC! In her free time, Sophia can be found in the woods, reading, or globe-trotting. Her favorite Sunday morning activity is reading the Baltimore Beat at Blueprint Cafe.
Director of External Affairs
Chris Zhang is a sophomore at Johns Hopkins University majoring in International Studies and Political Science. Born in Shanghai, he has lived in Atlanta, Georgia for most of his life. He is a member of the Hopkins home team helping to staff and organize the HopMUNC conference, serving as a crisis assistant at HopMUNC III. He is very excited to serve as part of the secretariat staff for the inaugural JayMUNC conference for the high school Model UN circuit. Outside of Model UN, Chris enjoys writing for various publications on campus, photography, and discussing current events with friends. His favorite thing to do in Baltimore is going to the various cultural festivals hosted in the city around the year and walking around the Inner Harbor area.
Director of Internal Affairs
Vivian Lee is a junior at Johns Hopkins University majoring in International Studies and Visual Arts. She’s from Las Vegas, Nevada and much like the city, also never sleeps. She’s a member of the Hopkins MUN travel team and also helps run the collegiate conference in DC. In her freetime, she paints warhammer figurines, cafehops and bakes macarons for her friends. Her favorite thing to do in Baltimore is visiting the art museums or reading at Red Emma’s.

Krisna Kumar is a junior at Johns Hopkins University majoring in International Studies and Critical Diaspora Studies. She has lived in Baltimore for the past ten years, but is originally from Portland,OR. She was a part of HopMUNC (the JHU hosted collegiate conference) for the past two years, and is so excited to be a part of the secretariat for the first JayMUNC conference. Outside of Model UN and school, Krisna loves baking, reading, and watching football. One of her favorite things to do in Baltimore is to go to the various thrift markets at R. House Garage.

Jennifer Ma is a junior at Johns Hopkins University majoring in Public Health Studies and Political Science. She is from New York City, and she fully embraces the city's energy. She is a member of the Hopkins travel team on Model UN collegiate circuit, and she has served as crisis director for HopMUNC. She is super excited to serve as a Director of Marketing and Communications for the first ever JayMUNC. Outside of MUN, she enjoys trying new food, boba, coffee, and matcha places with friends. Her favorite thing to do in Baltimore is trekking through the forest to go to Hampden.
USG of General Assembly and Specialized Committees
Romy Detering is a junior at Hopkins majoring in International Studies and German, with a minor in Economics. She is from Queens (New York City’s best borough) but spends so much time in Germany that it is almost a second home. Romy is the Vice President of Hopkins’ MUN travel team and has chaired General Assembly committees at HopMUNC (Hopkins’ collegiate conference) for the past two years. Although she clearly loves GA, Romy also enjoys leading hiking trips for students on campus and searching for the best restaurants in Baltimore. Her best finds so far are The Helmand and Tabor, for delicious Afghan and Ethiopian food.
USG of Crisis Committees
June Darin is a sophomore at Johns Hopkins University majoring in Biophysics with a minor in computational medicine. He has spent most of his life in Jackson, WY and Boulder, CO with a brief stint in Baltimore. June also has lived in Seoul, South Korea for a year through a study abroad program, and calls it his second home! June has been competing in Model UN since 10th grade, and served as UnderSec Operations and SecGen of Teton County Model United Nations in high school. June was also a staffer for HopMUNC this past year, and is beyond excited to serve as the Undersecretary General of Crisis for the first JayMUNC conference! In his free time, June enjoys hiking and backpacking, reading, and learning languages! His favorite thing to do in Baltimore is attend amazing events such as PoeFest, the Christmas Village, the Farmers Market, and the Book Festival!
